DAY 2 - SWEET SUNDAY

Hi, this is Mana :) and it is Colombia day 2!

We had a pretty relaxed start of the day. We slept in until 8, had a short devotion, and left for church. The church is called Euphoria, and it is nothing like I've ever seen before but in a positive way. It had so much modern culture and designs inside the building, and the style of worship/sermon was very different from what I am used to.  As we entered the church we were handed two little containers that had a little fish cracker and small bit of red juice.  With this we started the service with a time of communion.  It was pretty cool to join with Colombian believers in the same practice - only different.

All of the sermon was in Spanish, but they gave us each a translator on the headphones. It was great to see how accepting and joyful they were to each other. They welcomed anyone that stepped in, no matter what culture and environment they grew up in. My personal highlight there was that every person I talked to told me, "this is your home, and it is mine too". I love that mindset of "home" and that church representing a welcome home of God in this modern world.

We had a great lunch, we had choices of steak, chicken, or fish with fresh juice. Some Colombian friends came along with us, and it was great to hear their stories about their life, journey with God, and their ministries in Bogota.

The biggest highlight of the day for me was talking to YWAM missionaries, Steve & Evie Bartel. They had endless stories to tell about what they have been doing in Colombia, as well as how they got there. They have sacrificed their lives for God and raised over 25 street kids in their own home, as well as working with other kids that come to their ministries.   Their testimonies really moved us and gave us a lot of hope and strength in what we are trying to do in Colombia. It really made us think about how we can sacrifice for God's purposes, and to be willing to give up everything to God to achieve His goals, which becomes our goal in life.

Overall, a wonderful day. We are so blessed to be here, and thank you for everyone that supported us to make this happen. I also want to thank everyone for your prayers, we really need it and those prayers are what keep us going.
God bless!

  2. Thank you for giving of yourselves, of your time and talents, to the Lord, seeking to represent Jesus to the young people of Bogota. Be encouraged, for the Lord says, "Inasmuch as you have done it to one of the least of these you have done it unto Me!" :) and, this message also comes to mind, "The one that honors Me I will honor!" Be encouraged, and keep on encouraging one another and the ones God has sent you to.
Continuing to pray for you all,
    Ulrich & Pat
