DAY 3 - HOUSE OF PEACE and HOMES OF LOVE
Day 3 - Hola amigos, this is Denise.
Today we went to a ministry called Hogar de Paz (House of Peace). Kids here in the public schools either go to school in the mornings or evenings. This presents a problem for parents who must work all day. Thanks to this ministry, kids living in vulnerable situations are able to come here instead of being left at home alone or wandering out on the streets. We played games with the kids, acted out a Bible Story, sang, and did a craft. While I enjoy going there, the stories that the workers tell me always grip my heart. Last year two little brothers prayed all year that they would get to meet their Dad. On the day of the closing program in November, they met him for the first time. :) Another mom left her two beautiful kids for another man and they are now living with their Grandmother. I am so thankful for this ministry and for the staff who love God and show so much love to these kids. They were so encouraged by our time there with them today.
Hola! Esther here
Today was so amazing. After going to the first building of Hogar de Paz, we headed up the hill to the second building. We were supposed to clean this building. I was amazed at the size of this building compared to the first. There was an inch of dust on the ground and toys were covered in it. We quickly got to work with the little supplies and water we had and in two hours the place looked a lot cleaner. There was still so much to do but it was a real blessing, helping the staff of Hogar de Paz.
Once we were done there we all headed to separate houses for dinner. Josie and I went to this fabulous place with even more amazing people. I was so amazed by the love that they shared with us even though we had just met them. The food was great and so was the company. We learned so much about Bogota. I especially loved our conversations about the best food from different parts of the country. They drove us home after supper and again I was so amazed by their kindness and love. I am very thankful for the people that are in Colombia.
